Spellbreaker, the final showdown – Part 6, the spellbreakening

Spellbreaker is really annoying me to no end. As I noted before, surviving the witch trial is a whole elaborate affair of secret herbs and a 50/50 roll, then a fight, then having the keyword Raven. I looked it up (thank you champskees https://fightingfantazine.proboards.com/thread/182/53-spellbreaker-solution) and to get Raven, means having started with maximum gold, bought a hawk in addition to the other required items, then failed to escape the guards in Hallow’s Keep so you can meet a witch in jail, so you can defeat the witch in Selwick.

No way I’m starting all over again, because I’ve already spent way too much time on this book and it’s annoying. So yeah, sure, Raven – I said Raven on my way out of Tallow. Maybe not every single little syllable, but yeah basically I said it.

So, I get to Claybury and find Karad and the other witch hunters. It’s a good thing I met him earlier and got the password. After fending off a wraith thing, which turns out to be barely a fight but which proves that we don’t really have the element of surprise, I’m asked which of the three sites we’ll raid: a ring of stones, a creepy forest, or an old monastery. Honestly I have no idea, but my gut says monastery because that’s how this whole mess started.

Yeah, that was it. There’s a whole host of demons and animal familiars, a whole coven of witches, and Nazek himself reading from the big bad book. The red of Shekka’s Moon shines in through the open roof above, and this is the big showdown!

I use the Spell of Locking immediately, which doesn’t seem to do anything, though a witch attacks me when I’m done. After I kick her butt, a little imp comes at me but is repelled by my Faith awesomeness. Yeah, you better run, you little bastard.

Then there’s a flash of darkness and a whoosh of wind, and the big bad monster has been summoned! It’s a fair fight, and I take a few knocks, but eventually I prevail.

Nazek then does what any witch would do when his summoned mega-weapon is defeated by one single guy with a sword – he throws a fistful of spiders at me.

Do I have a Venom’s Bane potion? Well, no… so I die of poison right there on the spot, and my adventure ends here.

This book sucks.

I noted the ingredients for Sam to make Venom’s Bane, and marked them on the map. But I’m not playing through this slog again.
